(May 31, 2013) No. 1 Serena Williams is into the fourth round of the French Open. The 15-time major champion beat Sorana Cirstea 6-0, 6-2 on Friday. Friday’s win extends her career-best win streak to 27 as she moves into the round of 16.
Williams is now a dominating 70-3 since falling in the first round of Paris last year. Over that time she’s captured Wimbledon, the U.S. Open, the London Olympics and the year-end WTA Championships.
She’s lost only six games in her first three matches
“I think everyone, when they step out to play me, I feel like they really bring their A game. And I think, you know, I just have to get really pumped up for everything to a point where I want to win, you know, as much as I can out there, whether it’s every point or just do the best that I can do.
“That’s pretty much what I try to do.”
Williams is looking to capture her second title at Roland Garros, her lone win came in 2002.
“Every slam is really my priority,” said Williams. “I would love to win this one, but there is still a lot of people in the draw that would love to win this tournament, as well.
“I’m just one of those. For me, it’s just about focusing in on not just this particular one, but I think all four of them.”
