FLUSHING, N.Y., September 6, 2012 â€“ The United States Tennis Association (USTA) today announced that the U.S. Quad Doubles Team of David Wagner and Nick Taylor won the gold medal at the 2012 Paralympics in London. They captured their third consecutive Quad gold medal in the Paralympic Games, defeating British Quad Doubles Team of Peter Norfolk and Andy Lapthorne 6-2, 5-7, 6-2. Wagner and Taylor have won the gold medal in each Paralympic Quad Doubles division since the 2004 Games in Athens.
This marks the second time Wagner and Taylor faced Norfolk in the gold medal match. They defeated Norfolk, who teamed-up with a different partner, in the 2004 games in Athens.
Earlier Thursday, Wagner faced Taylor in the second semifinal match of Quad Singles and won 6-2, 6-1. On Saturday, September 8, Wagner will play for his first gold medal in Quad Singles when he faces Noam Gershony of Israel. Tomorrow, Taylor will look to capture his first medal in Quad Singles in the bronze medal match against Shraga Weinberg of Israel.
