©Kourtin’ Karen’s Tennis News Scoreboard – Week Ending May 22, 2010

Give a former Roland Garros winner a break!
2004 Roland Garros Champion Gaston Gaudio had to play the Qualies – he failed to advance past the second round. Being a former champ should have the priveledge of getting a wildcard.
Roland Garros draw on website – fail. The official “tweeter” for the Roland Garros twitter account was faster with the draw than the website. Perhaps next year they can do it on Roland Garros Radio.

Martina
Navratilova – Cancer Free and Talking About Justine, Venus, Serena and
the French Open
Seems as though GVTN was the one of the only media outlets to use some of these Navratilova quotes from the Tennis Channel French Open Conference call. We don’t know how many other tennis journalists were on the call with us but it’s worth a read.
A legend you may not know but a good read– “The
Court Jester” – Mansour Bahrami
On
The Call – ESPN2 French Open Conference Call GVTN was busy with conference calls this week, this time with ESPN2.
Advantage Poetry
Wimbledon appoints Championships Poet –
Matt Harvey
Since there is no poet for Roland Garros, we thought we would give it a try and put some words to music:
To the tune of “Crazy” by Patsy Cline and Willie Nelson (Please accept my apologies in advance)
Women’s Draw So Crazy
Crazy, why is the top quarter so loaded,
Serena, Justine, Stosur too..
Zheng, Peer, Sharapova so daunted
And second quarter Jelena, Agniezska, Yanina, Ana too..
Worry, third quarter a toss up why worry
Wonderin’ who’s making it through
Fourth quarter Elena, Venus, Victoria
Crazy for cryin’ cause these draws are tryin’
It’s crazy for predictions too
Crazy for thinking this would be easy
Crazy for trying cause these draws are tryin’
It’s crazy to make predictions too
As for the Men’s draw, to the tune of “It’s My House” sung by Diana Ross and written by Nick Ashford and Valerie Simpson. (Again please accept my apologies)
Rafa Nadal says “Vamos – Es mi casa y yo vivo aqui!” (It’s My House and I live here!)
Roland Garros is my house and I live here
I wanna tell you
Es mi casa y yo vivo aqui.
There’s a clay welcome mat at the door
Roger borrowed it last year
But he won’t get in anymore
Everyone’s in fear
Cause on clay I have no peer
Cause the clay for me
Brings me loving care
Let me tell you es mi casa y yo vivo aqui.
No one can take the keys away
It’s my house and I live here.
There’s a candle to light the stairs
My clay dreams await and I want no one to share
There’s Phantom of the Opera on the radio
And the clay vibrations won’t let me go
I put my name on the Coupe de Musketeers
Cause it was built for me
“el Rey de Clay” meeee….
You say you want a Roland Garros trophy
You say you want a Roland
Garros trophy
You’ll never get by me
I’m the king of clay you see
You want to visit my house
Nunca – Don’t even try
Wanna visit my Roland Garros house, no?
Never while I’m alive
Roland Garros is my house
and I live here
I wanna tell you
Es mi casa y yo vivo aqui….
