(June 25, 2013) Dutch player Arantxa Rus ranked 156th in the world extended her main draw losing streak to 17 with her first round loss at Wimbledon to Russia’s Olga Puchkova 6-2, 6-4.
“This year is not a good year for me,” Rus said. “I lost a lot of matches. Yeah, it’s hard, but I try to keep working hard.
“Yeah, that’s the only thing you can do.”
Rus is now tied with Sandy Collins of the U.S. for longest known losing streak in WTA Tour history. Collins lost 17 in a row form 1984-87.
Rus’ last win in a main draw match came back on August 19 when she defeated Romina Oprandi 7-5, 6-4 in the first round of a tournament in Texas.
