Resale Market Offering Many Deals for 2016 U.S. Open Tickets

June 27, 2016 By Tennis Panorama News

(June 27, 2016) The 2016 U.S. Open will officially commence on August 29 in Flushing, New York. The 136th edition of the annual tournament will bring the brightest and most notable stars in professional tennis to Queens for a two-week stay at USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, and for those still in need of U.S. Open tickets, the secondary market may be the best route to take.

Following the largest qualifying tournament in event history last week, in which 303 participants battled for rights to play in the last leg of the Grand Slam at Mercy County Park, anticipation has steadily risen for the U.S. Open. Tickets were made available to the general public earlier this month, and since that time have flooded the resale market.

According to online aggregator Razorgator, Session 1 tickets on August 29 at Arthur Ashe Stadium start from $67 each. If hoping to catch first round action for the cheapest prices, however, Session 4 tickets one day later are the least expensive of the tournament at a get-in price of just $34.

Ticket prices won’t be the only deal fans will find at the U.S. Open this year. Arthur Ashe Stadium parking on ParkWhiz.com offers the best deals on parking in independent lots surrounding the venue. Prices start from $15 for each day of the tournament.

In years past, it has been common to see ticket demand increase as the competition heats up. However, prices vary dependent on session in 2016, and tickets to second round sessions can actually be found for cheaper in later sessions. Session 5 tickets own a current get-in price of $73. The final second round session, Session 8, will be held on September 1. The cheapest ticket to that session is now $54.

The third round will be held over four sessions between September 2 and 3. Tickets can be found ranging between $78 and $121 during that time. It will be the Round of 16 that begins to push the needle in terms of ticket pricing, however, as all four sessions own a get-in price above $100. Interestingly enough, the opening sessions of the Round of 16 on September 4 is the cheapest of the Round of 16 at a get-in price of $127.

With the quarterfinal and semifinals rounds held from September 6-9, excitement will be through the retractable roof for the respective Men’s and Women’s Final. Women’s Final tickets for the marquee match on September 10 now start from $124. One day later, Men’s Final tickets at Arthur Ashe Stadium can be found from $181 each.

Novak Djokovic will return to New York after winning the Men’s Final in 2015. Serena Williams’ Calendar Grand Slam bid was put to an end in the Women’s Semifinals by Italy’s Roberta Vinci, who would then fall to Flavia Pennetta in the Final.
