Teenagers Fourlis and Jasika win wildcards into Australian Open 2017

Nineteen-year-old Omar Jasika was awarded a wildcard into the men’s singles main draw of Australian Open 2017 today following his win over John-Patrick Smith in the Australian Open Play-off final.
Seventeen-year-old Jaimee Fourlis defeated Abbie Myers 7-6(6) 7-5, to win her spot in the women’s singles main draw in January.
On Friday, Destanee Aiava and Alicia Smith earned a doubles wildcard for Australian Open 2017. Aiava also secured a main draw singles wildcard with victory over Fourlis in the 18/u girls’ Australian Championships the week prior.
Sixteen-year-old Aiava is set to become the first player born this century to play at a Grand Slam when she returns to Melbourne Park in January.
