On the evening of April 21,Â New York Cityâ€™s Tribeca Film Festival is set to debut a documentary on RenÃ©e Richards. Â Richards, born as Dick Raskin was the first transsexual player to play on the womenâ€™s tennis tour.
The documentary will examine both Richardsâ€˜ personal and athletic lives. Directed by Eric Drath, the film has appearances in it by John McEnroe, Billie Jean King, Martina Naratilova, Mary Carillo and Virginia Wade.
This film is part of the Tribeca/ESPN Sports Film Festival.Â The festival runs from April 21- May 1.
The festival was founded by Robert De Niro, Jane Rosenthal and Craig Hatkoff in 2001 following the attacks on the World Trade Center, to spur the economic and cultural revitalization of the lower Manhattan district through an annual celebration of film, music and culture, the Festival brings the industry and community together around storytelling.
