On the 10th anniversary of the Mutua Madrid Open, ellesse will join the tournament as the official clothing partner. Ellesse will dress the ball boys and girls for the next 2 years, in the brand’s signature Italian tenniswear. The Madrid Open, staged at the clay courts of the impressive Caja Magica, plays host to top tennis performances and entertainment, combined with the latest technology. For the semi finals and finals, trained professional models take over as ball boys and girls, a concept, unique to the Madrid tournament.
“The tournament is a great showcase for brands. Over 200,000 people will be visiting the ‘Magic Box’ during the ten days of the tournament and more than 2.3 million will follow us on television. I’m sure ellesse will be proud of taking part in the tournament.” said Gerard Tsobanian, president of the Mutua Madrid.
Ellesse has created a capsule Madrid Open range of navy blue staples such as piquet polos and dresses, sweaters and windbreakers. White contrast panels with red and orange piping give a pop of colour and a subtle nod to the brand’s logo.
The Madrid Open sponsorship brings the brand back into the courts and actively re-establishes its long standing relationship with tennis. International tennis personality and tournament creator Ion Tiriac provides a link between the ellesse past and present. An ex tennis player, Ion coached Boris Becker during his early ellesse years and appeared in some of the brand’s now iconic 80s shoots.
“Ellesse is extremely proud and excited to be in partnership with the Madrid Open. We are looking to evolve but always ensure we maintain our ethos. The Madrid Open’s stylish approach on a classic sport is a perfect match for usâ€, said Mike Stopforth, MD of ellesse.
The Mutua Madrid Open and ellesse join forces for what promises to be a tournament of high performance and Italian style.
